What a cool multimedia map to celebrate the Pioneers' 10th NCAA hockey championship! It's an example of inspired data storytelling and reflects what I'm learning this quarter in my DU-University College Storytelling through Research and Measurement course. #GoPios

Proud to share the results of the FastModel x National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) & National Amateur Sports Athletics (NAS) & Cerebro's recent pilot of video statting the Greenville County, SC Boys AND Girls conference basketball games. This needs to be the new standard for HS basketball: https://lnkd.in/g_uMisyz https://lnkd.in/gzwkifv9You can look at the boxscores from each of the games and look at category leaders just like you would on ESPN. And then if you want to see other events or games a player has played in, you can click through to our database where you can see an entire player's career data. Can you imagine your child playing in a high school basketball game and NOT having basic stats to look at? We believe this needs to be the new standard in High School Basketball. We believe that players and parents need this data to make better decisions around training and recruiting. What do you think?

Congrats to the campus + alumni families at the University of Michigan + University of Michigan Athletics and the University of Washington + University of Washington Intercollegiate Athletics as well as their #AnnArbor + #Detroit + #Seattle communities for an epic season of championship football. The 10th and last iteration of the current College Football Playoff format will be one to remember. This year's championship is a provocative bookend to the #CFBPlayoff. Both the first and the last iteration of the 4-team format pit two campuses from the northern half of the country against two schools from the southern half. In a repeat of 2014, this year the two north-side campuses advance to the championship, one from the Big Ten Conference and one from the Pac-12 Conference (same conferences as in 2014). Mind-blowing symmetry. 🤯The symmetry would be cosmic or divine if an undefeated Florida State University had made the playoff this year, as they too were a semifinalist back in 2014. Regardless, #FSU's litigation with the Atlantic Coast Conference has ensured that the #CollegeSports industry will always look back on this moment as an inflection point on how it conducts business.Filling the bookends, the Southeastern Conference has been represented in all BUT two #CFBPlayoff championships...the first (2014) AND NOW the last (2023). Again...mind-blowing. This edition of championship #CollegeFootball is ready for print.https://lnkd.in/gtuGBwmD

Are Ivy league schools the perfect breeding ground for Division one athletes to get paid as employees due to the fact that they typically don't give out athletic scholarships? If it is, should the sports community be considering it?I would love to know what you all think. Love this from the Fairfield University women's hoops crew. Reminiscent of the ad posting Topgolf put out into the world after Tiger Woods' official split from Nike in terms of its simplicity and "old school" feel. It's a good reminder. PR doesn't have to be expensive. Creating buzz doesn't always mean an event. High production costs aren't necessarily a pre-requisite. Sometimes, you just need to be a little clever in delivering the message. Well done, Stags. Go get that ranking. #brandmarketing #communications #pr

It only took 36 hours to prove 22 million people wrong! It is March Madness! The greatest time for college basketball fans and those who love to see the unexpected happen. We are waiting to see who this year’s Cinderella will be, there is always one team that the “experts” say does not belong that makes it to the second weekend and beyond.ESPN had 22,114,647 million brackets filled out this year. After day one, only 1,800 of those brackets were perfect. Less than 1% picked all the winners. By the end of day two, there were zero perfect brackets left. This is the best sporting event around. Everyone gets a chance to prove it on the court. The small schools get to compete with the large schools. It is a win-or-go-home format. Have a bad game, you are done. One player gets hot and cannot miss a shot, their team advances. Legends are made over the course of this three-week tournament. My bracket was busted on day one. After the first game, it was no longer perfect. I am excited about the games happening the rest of the weekend and seeing the stories that we will be talking about all week.BTW, the women’s tournament has also started and it is going to be as good if not better than the men’s tournament.Did you fill out a bracket? If so, how is it looking?#collegebasketball #marchmadness #expecttheunexpected #sports #socialsaturday#BruceTalk
