Denike appointed as Harry Chapin Food Bank major gifts officer

Harry Chapin Food Bank, a hunger relief organization serving Southwest Florida, recently announced that Jennifer Denike has been named the organization’s major gifts officer for Collier County. In this role, Denike will support Harry Chapin Food Bank’s efforts to end hunger in Southwest Florida.

An experienced fundraising professional, Denike has more than a decade of experience in fundraising and nonprofit leadership. She most recently served as the development director at the Florida Repertory Theatre, a fully professional theatre company in Fort Myers.

Prior to that, Denike spent approximately five years at WGCU Public Media at Florida Gulf Coast University, where she served as a key member of the organization’s development team. She also previously served as the associate director of fundraising and events for David Lawrence Centers.

Denike was first introduced to Harry Chapin Food Bank during her time at WGCU, through the “WGCU Feed Public Radio” fund drives. Her interest in the organization was further piqued following a tour of the 55,000-square-foot Fort Myers facility, prompting her to become a volunteer at the organization.

“I am thrilled to join the Harry Chapin Food Bank team,” said Denike. “I am eager to work with our philanthropic community to marry donors’ passions and our mission as a leader in the fight to end hunger throughout Southwest Florida.”

Denike moved to Southwest Florida in 2015, following stints at Manhattanville College and The College of New Rochelle respectively. She currently serves on the board of the Planned Giving Council of Lee County, is a graduate of Leadership SWFL Class of 2021, and was a 2021 Gulfshore Business 40 Under 40 honoree. She has served in leadership positions within Best Buddies of SWFL and is matched in a one-on-one friendship with her buddy Nicole.

Denike holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from State University of New York Cortland.

“I am excited to welcome Jennifer to the Harry Chapin Food Bank team,” said Stuart Haniff, the chief development officer at Harry Chapin Food Bank. “Jennifer is passionate about our mission, and I have no doubt she will be a valuable asset in our mission to lead the fight to end hunger in Southwest Florida.”

Now in its 40th year, Harry Chapin Food Bank feeds more than 250,000 people each month through a multitude of food distribution programs and over 170 charity partner agencies.

In fiscal year 2023, Harry Chapin Food Bank distributed approximately 35.6 million pounds of food, or nearly 71.2 million meals to Southwest Floridians in need.
