Why didn't the control devil disappear when Denji ate Makima? ›

Denji in his human form was the one who consumed Makima, not Chainsaw Man, so he only ended up killing her and not erasing her existence completely. This is the reason why the Control Devil still exists and was reincarnated in the world as Nayuta.

Makima. Makima and Denji shared an asymmetrical relationship: whereas Denji was greatly infatuated with Makima and willing to go to great lengths to serve her, Makima saw Denji as nothing more than a pet and tool, taking interest in him solely for the fact that the Chainsaw Devil Pochita resided in his heart.

Reze was Denji's first genuine love interest in Chainsaw Man as the two had a somewhat genuine relationship until it was revealed that Reze was actually the Bomb Devil hybrid and initially got closer to Denji to steal his heart. Still, there are hints that her feelings were genuine.

Pochita's true Devil form is of a large, humanoid Devil with four arms and a chainsaw protruding from each, with another chainsaw coming from the front of his head, similar to Denji's hybrid form. An intestine still connected to his stomach is wrapped around his neck, resembling a scarf or a collar.

Through a loophole, Denji renders the Devil Contract Makima had with the Prime Minister of Japan that gave her nigh-immortality null and kills her by eating her entire body. The Control Devil is soon reincarnated as Nayuta, a young girl from China.

As the series went on, Makima controlled virtually everything and everyone as she saw fit. Her existence as the Control Devil allows her to control anyone she views below herself. Due to the absurdity of Makima's control ability, virtually no one can resist her powers in Chainsaw Man.

Not only did Denji defeat Makima as himself, but he also eats Makima as himself. Remember, Makima stated at one point that if she was going to lose to Chainsaw Man, she wanted the honor of being eaten by him, the one she idolizes most. Denji is essentially denying her that dream by eating her as himself.

There has been at least one love interest in the series who loved Denji for who he was as a person, though, and that was Reze. While she was only in it for his Chainsaw heart at first, Reze proved herself to be someone who truly did care for Denji in the end.

In addition to all of this, Makima also shows a rather condescending and elitist behavior, viewing Denji as nothing but an obstacle for her to meet Chainsaw Man and also viewing him as unworthy of the title due to his appearance and mannerisms alone.

She explains to Denji that she deliberately planned to provide him with a family unit and various sources of happiness, only to rip them away in order to break him. Ultimately, her goal is to mentally destroy Denji in order to make him an unsuitable host for Pochita, thus separating him from the Chainsaw Devil.

Contrary to popular belief, Power does not die in chapter 81 when Makima seemingly obliterates her with her finger gun. Although her existence as a fiend comes to an end at that moment, Power finds a way to revive herself.
