How rare are straight furries? ›

Given that only about 20-30% of furries self-identify as exclusively or predominantly heterosexual, it may be possible that they construe themselves as a minority within the furry fandom.

In addition to the sizable transgender contingent, many furries identify as non-binary, genderqueer, genderfluid, or agender. But is "furry" a gender identity in and of itself? We're in no position to police gender identities here (frankly, no one is), so we can't rule on this definitively.

While only 2% of furries identified themselves as transgender, 10% of furries identified themselves as genderqueer/non-binary. 83–90% of furries self-identify as White, with small minorities of furries self-identifying as Asian (2–4%), Black (2–3%), and Hispanic (3%).

Furries with ETIIs would experience both sexual attraction to anthropomorphic animals and sexual arousal by fantasizing about being anthropomorphic animals, because they often change their appearance and behavior to become more like anthropomorphic animals.

Furries are part of the greater furry fandom. Besides referring to fans of anthropomorphic characters, furries are also the anthro characters themselves.

The winning design (a version created by Paul Witzkoske) is a field of simple horizontal stripes with a paw print in the upper left corner — a layout similar to the leather pride flag. The colors represent the furs of different bear species throughout the world as a sign of inclusivity. It is trademarked.

We asked furries to choose from a list of estimates about the size of the furry fandom (ranging from 1 in 1 million people to 1 in 10 people). On average, furries estimated that the prevalence of furries in the population was between 1 in 2,500 and 1 in 5,000 people, or about 1.4 – 2.8 million furries worldwide.

Now, there are around 1.4 – 2.8 million furries worldwide, according to The Healthy Journal. The furry community is a very kind and accepting community overall. Many furries are LGBTQ+, many have autism, ADHD, and other disorders. Because of this, furries make their hobby accessible to all of those who join.
